The smell of the sea,
the fishermen's colorful houses overlooking on the beach two steps away from the
sea. We are not in a remote village but in a magical place, a stone's throw from
the historical center of Sorrento: we are talking about the
Marina Grande, a fishing village that has
retained all its charm fishing.
Once you arrive at Marina Grande is like
awakening by the saltiness and a little bit retro atmosphere that characterized
it. Marina Grande is also the set of the popular movie "Pane,
amore e...", directed by Dino Risi, starring actors such as Sophia Loren
and Vittorio De Sica.
Marina Grande is easily reachable by foot or by bus, even if the walk leading to
Marina Grande offers magnificent panoramic views.
Beauty and history are intertwined in the plots of fine sandy beach, in the
square of the small Sant’Anna church. Marina Grande was located also one of the
Sorrento’s city door dating from the third century BC, the gateway to the city
from the sea.
Casa Silvia is a
typical fisherman's house, just steps from the sea, completely renovated in
2011, using original materials such as limestone, wood and wrought iron,
enhanced by the colors of the coverings decorated trencadis.
Casa Silvia is
located at just few meters by the sea, in the village of Marina Grande in
Sorrento, the characteristic beach just minutes from the city center, connected
through the narrow streets and pedestrian bus. Marina Grande, which was the only
seaside town of Sorrento up to the 15 th century, is situated at the mouth of
the ravine closing of the old town to the west, crossed the bridge at the top of
Parsano, from where Via Minervia (Athena's Road) leading to the sanctuary of
Athena on the Punta Campanella. Marina Grande is separated from the center of
Sorrento, the promontory on which stood the Roman villa of Agrippa Posthumus,
the nephew of the Emperor Octavian Augustus.
Casa Silvia has a fully equipped kitchen with stove, oven, refrigerator, crockery and cutlery, bed, sofa bed, bathroom with shower, private entrance and air conditioning.
